Devtober 2019, Postmortem

I joined this jam on a dare and to get my feet wet sort of and I have to admit it was an enriching experience.

I have always been fond of this game since they made it for old flip phones in Java and they kept me entertained for hours on end, so it seemed fitting for this to be my first project.

I made my game in 2D using Construct 3, mainly because I wanted to learn something new but that had a short learning curve, and so using my own common sense and the Construct documentation (and the occasional YouTube video when I got REALLY stuck) I started off my game-making journey.

Some things that went wrong early on were the fact that the ball after it touched any surface, If I were to tap or click the mouse it would shoot off in its original starting direction. Which took me about a week to figure out.

What’s next for this game?

Glad you asked. I'm not planning on leaving this as is. I'd love to make something that has higher replay value. With some time, I’ll be adding more levels with different

types of blocks like Tougher and moving blocks. I’ll also be adding a variety of power-ups and debuffs that can help or hinder the player. I’ll also be adding enemies as well as boss battles. And hopefully, I can get some new sprite models as well.

Now that I don't have to worry about college taking up most of my time (which is why I wasn't able to work on my project more than half the time) I can focus more on implementing everything else and polishing it for release on the Play Store at the end of the year.
